The present paper is a contribution made by Architect Silvio Ríos, PhD., who is the Director of the Documentation Center for Appropriate Technology (CTA) at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Catholic University of Asunción, Paraguay. This research is part of the report written by Dr. Ríos within the context of the Seminar on “Building from an Ecological-Based Approach”, which was held at the CTA in December, 1989, and chaired by Engineer Dirk Althaus, PhD.
