The author of this contribution suggests the use of organic and native construction materials to solve the serious housing problem that affects Ecuador, where the operative and material costs to build formal dwellings are affected by high inflation rates (150 per cent annually) and expensive home loans. This paper offers innovative methods for the use of materials such as Rammed Earth, Adobe and Wattle. In this sense, architects are required to adapt their criteria to the new building standards of these materials.
